When it comes to securing a new position in financial services, if you have the experience, skills and knowledge, it really just comes down to a couple of pieces of paper that will determine whether you get the opportunity to showcase your abilities face-to-face. The CV has the power to make or break a career move, and despite being something that can written in minutes, those that take care and attention in making sure they get it right, will be the ones preparing for the all-important interview.

You wouldn’t be alone if you thought yourself lucky just to have a job right now. The newspapers have been full of bad news about slow growth, rising unemployment and the pay squeeze.
However, the truth is, this provides just one side of the story. Just as the first signs of economic trouble were seen in the City, the same place is showing the some huge strides in terms of turning things around, and while at one stage it was very much a case of ‘sit tight and be thankful you have a job’, now it’s time to keep an eye out for the next position.

Change is something that all industries must deal with from time to time, but while the economic downturn had the country in a firm grip, it was a day-to-day occurrence. The finance sector was no different, if anything the role that the sector was perceived to have played in the downturn meant that the industry was changing on a daily basis, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Today, there seems to be plenty of good news, firms are reporting recruitment and profit drives and stability is around the corner.
